BATCH EDITING

1. ASSIGN: You’ll receive an email notification letting you know that you have been assigned to edit a batch of photos.

2. DOWNLOAD: Login to your nexus dashboard and you’ll see the photos under the “Photos to Edit” header. Download all RAW zip files. You can ignore the JPGs unless instructed otherwise.

Here you’ll also see the basic info about the job including:

Event Date, Total Upload Size (GB), Service (Interactive or Express), Booking ID, Frame (watermark for Interactive) and the Due Date.

You will need to reference this information when exporting the photos.

3. REMOVE TEST PHOTOS & DUPLICATES

  • Import to Lightroom (or similar).
  • Remove test photos, exact duplicates and 'bad' photos.
  • Please use your judgement for which photos are ‘bad.’ Some examples of this include: eyes closed, out of focus/blurry, too dark to fix, or too over-exposed to fix.
  • If you are not sure, keep the photo rather than delete it.

4. NORMALIZE

We’ve provided a preset below to get you started, but the idea here is not to retouch or ‘photoshop’ the photos. Just a batch edit in Lightroom.

  • Similar brightness
  • Similar tone and white balance
  • Appropriate contrast
  • Crop/Rotate: Please ensure the photos look professional and where possible crop out any unwanted background distractions, like photo-bombs, etc.
  • For our Interactive service, the frame can sometimes cover a particular section of the photo. Please download the frame before you begin so that you know how to best crop the photo.

EXPORTING PHOTOS

The export process varies depending on the type of service that the photos were taken for. Express photos are exported once and Interactive photos are exported twice. Please follow the guidelines below for both.

5a. EXPORT (EXPRESS)

  • Folder: Export all photos without a watermark into a folder named with the shoot's four character booking ID.
  • File Naming: Name the files by renaming to “BOOKINGID_Sequence_OriginalFileName”
  • File Name Example: If your raw file is titled xmj220.cr2 and your booking ID is 1234, your first exported jpeg would be titled 1234_0001_xmj220.jpeg, the next would be titled 1234_0002_xmj221.jpeg, etc.
  • File Type: Export as JPEGs at quality 100 with an sRGB colorspace.
  • Size: Limit photo size to 4MB per file at 300 pixels per inch. Do not resize the width or height of the images.
  • Metadata: Include all metadata

5b. EXPORT (INTERACTIVE)

EXPORT 1) UNFRAMED

  • Folder: Export the photos into a folder called "unframed".
  • File Naming: Name the files by renaming to “Unframed_BOOKINGID_Sequence_OriginalFileName”
  • File Name Example: If your raw file is titled xmj220.cr2 and your booking ID is 1234, your first exported jpeg would be titled Unframed_1234_0001_xmj220.jpeg, the next would be titled Unframed_1234_0002_xmj221.jpeg, etc.
  • File Type: Export as JPEGs at quality 100 with an sRGB colorspace

EXPORT 2) Framed

  • Folder: Export the framed photos into a folder called “framed”.
  • File Naming: Name the files by renaming to “Framed_BOOKINGID_Sequence_OriginalFileName”
  • File Naming Example: If your raw file is titled xmj220.cr2 and your booking ID is 1234, your first exported jpeg would be titled Framed_1234_0001_xmj220.jpeg, the next would be titled Framed_1234_0002_xmj221.jpeg, etc.
  • File Type: Export as JPEGs at quality 100 with an sRGB colorspace.
  • Size: Resize to fit “Width & Height” with a max width and height of 2048 pixels, 4MB per file, at 300 pixels per inch.
  • Watermark: Under “Watermarking,” add the watermark frame that accompanied the RAW files in nexus. This PNG file will be the same size as the exported photos, so position it so that is lined up correctly by clicking FILL or FIT.
  • Metadata: Include all metadata

6. Transfer the edited photos via our transfer page located here. Please include your name, email address and booking ID in the transfer form.

7. Editing Complete:

Head back to your nexus dashboard and mark the photos as ‘Edited’, Please let us know the final photo count of photos that you sent us and a note about the photos. This will help us provide any necessary feedback to the photographer.

NOTES:

Please do not zip the files before you upload them. If there are more than 1,000 edited photos you will need to send the files in multiple batches.

If possible, please keep your RAW images for 48 hours in case of the need for a re-edit.
